Course Description 

There are a number of sources from which pressure is generated in an oil and gas facility. In all instances, the equipment designed to maintain containment of materials has a maximum pressure design rating, which if exceeded can lead to catastrophic consequences.

Pressure relief devices are therefore an important line of defence in preventing such occurrences.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course you should be able to:
  • Recognise the importance of reliability of relief valve operation 
  • Explain how flare and vent gas is gathered
  • Define the different types of relief equipment and their functions 
  • Consider the different relief valve applications
  • Describe the isolation methodologies used to allow maintenance tasks to be performed
